Tucked in the Forest

This project began in 2019 with a native sod harvest of an intact forest prior to the new home excavation and construction. Our team collected trays of native plant material, set up a temporary nursery on site, and tended to them until the build was complete. This unique client wished her home to appear as if it had always been there, tucked into the native forest. Following the completion of the home and landscaping hardscape in 2021, we placed the native sod trays back into the landscape and enhanced it with additional native wildflower plugs and bunchgrass seed. After only one year, most of the landscape has filled in, appearing to have been established for quite some time. This is the most successful method for revegetating a site back to its former state – by using plant material directly from the site.
